Active start to 2023 chase season

This year’s storm season has been off to a hot start. While I haven’t made it out for every event, it’s still been one of my busiest early seasons so far. It’s kind of crazy to think that this is already my 10th year of actively storm chasing.

While there have been many storms, including a tornado within a couple of miles of my house, I have still not witnessed a tornado since last year. No tornadoes does not mean a lack of photos, however. In fact, I’ve gotten much better about finding things to take pictures of, even if I can’t find a photogenic storm.

A few examples have been urban exploration, model photography, a wedding and even self portraits.

I may eventually write up a few posts about individual chases from earlier this year, but either way, I want to get back into the swing of writing. It’s been nearly a year to the day since I last posted about a storm chase, or anything for that matter. May and June are typically the busiest months for my chase adventures, so the goal is to write more over this time.

Aside from writing about storm chases and posting photos,

I may eventually get around to making some updates to the Chaser’s Guide. I rushed to put it together a few years back and feel like it needs some revisions/additions.

Another possible idea is to put together a behind-the-scenes video documenting a storm chase. I’m just not sure if the interest level is there. I’ve produced videos in the past and for whatever reason, the reach hasn’t been worth it. We’ll see.

One more idea is to post more of my non-weather related photography. I’ve been exploring other genres and fields with my camera over the last couple years. It gives me more to do between storms and helps challenge my creativity.

Let me know what you think!
